MILITARY SPECIFICATION
TRUCKS, REFUSE COLLECTION: COMPACTION TYPE,
ONE-PERSON OPERATION, MANUAL SIDE-LOADING, 17, 29 AND 39 YARD,
DUAL RIGHT AND LEFT HAND DRIVE, LOW ENTRY CAB,
DIESEL ENGINE DRIVEN, 32,000, 35,000 AND 50,000 POUNDS GVW,
4x2 AND 6x4, COMMERCIAL
This specification is approved for use by all Departments and Agencies of the
Department of Defense.
1. SCOPE
1.1 Scope. This specification covers diesel engine driven, four-wheel, two-wheel-drive,
and six-wheel, four-wheel-drive, commercial, one-person operation refuse collection trucks. The
trucks shall have dual right and left hand drive, a low entry cab, and a minimum gross vehicle
weight (GVW) of 32,000, 35,000 or 50,000 pounds. The minimum rated capacity of the body
shall be 17, 29 or 39 cubic yards, and shall be side loading and rear dumping.
1.2 Classification. The vehicle shall be of the sizes specified in table I (see 6.2).
