3.5.31.5 Electromagnetic pulse (EMP). All FISTV vehicle shall not be damaged by
exposure to the EMP conditions defined in the M981 Nuclear Survivability Criteria
(see 4.6.4.30.5).
3.6 Painting, finish, marking and data plates.
3.6.1 Painting. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), the exterior surface of all interior
vehicle components; except cables, optics, displays, radios, and vision blocks, shall be painted
light green, No. 24533 in accordance with FED-STD-595, epoxy-polyamide chemical agent
resistant coating in accordance with MIL-C-22750, type I, except the intercom units shall be
painted olive drab, No. 24087. The exterior of all exterior components; excluding optics,
antennas and vision blocks, shall be painted with chemical agent resistant aliphatic polyurethane
coating in accordance with MIL-C-46168, Color No. 383 green. All aluminum surfaces shall be
cleaned and treated in accordance with MIL-C-5541 and primed in accordance with
MIL-P-23377, type I. All steel interior surfaces shall be primed in accordance with
MIL-P-52192 (see 4.7).
3.6.2 Electro-mechanical finish. Unless otherwise specified, surface treatments, coatings
and finishes for the FISTV vehicle peculiar electro-mechanical equipment and devices shall
conform to MIL-P-11268 (see 4.7).
3.6.3 Marking. The FISTV vehicle exterior markings shall be lusterless black, Color
No. 37038 of FED-STD-595, aliphatic polyurethane in accordance with MIL-C-46168, except
for safety markings, and shall conform to MIL-STD-642. Interior markings shall be Black
No. 17038 in accordance with MIL-C-22750. Parts and components shall be marked in
accordance with MIL-STD-130 (see 4.7).
3.6.3.1 Safety markings. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), safety hazard plates and
decals for the FISTV vehicle and component assemblies shall be posted in accordance with
applicable drawings (see 4.7).
3.6.4 Data plates. The data plates shall be in accordance with the requirements of
MIL-P-514, or applicable drawings (see 4.7).
3.7 Workmanship. Workmanship shall be of a quality to assure that the vehicle and its
components are free of defects that compromise, limit or reduce capability in the performance of
its intended use. In addition to general appearance, the defects listed in table VIII shall be
considered to be cause for failure. Electric wires and hydraulic lines shall be located in a manner
so as to prevent possible damage by rubbing on adjacent lines or appendages. No workmanship
condition shall exist which may create a safety hazard to operating or maintenance personnel.
Particular attention shall be paid to marking of parts, plating, machine-screw assemblage,
welding, brazing and freedom of parts from burrs and sharp edges (see 4.8).
