3.7.1 Warhead Outer Case Rupture.- A warhead assembly
outer case shall not rupture.
3.7.2 Aft Closure Plug Rupture.- A warhead aft closure
plug shall not rupture.
3.7.3 Payload Assembly Expulsion.- A warhead assembly
shall not expel an incomplete payload. Incomplete payload
expulsion shall be evidenced by any one flechette or flech-
ettes remaining within the case. In addition, incomplete pay-
load expulsion shall be evidenced by any one or more tracer
assemblies remaining within the case. Ricocheting expelled
flechettes/tracers reentering the warhead case shall not be
considered an incomplete payload expulsion.
3.7.4 Tracer Assembly Ignition.- Each tracer assembly
from each warhead assembly shall ignite and burn for 4.0
seconds minimum.
3.8 Warhead Charge Circuit Resistance (With Fuze XM439).-
The resistance of the charge circuit shall be between 230 ohms
minimum and 3300 ohms maximum.
3.9 First Article Inspection.- This specification contains
technical provisions for first article inspection. Requirements
for the submission of first article samples by the contractor
shall be as specified in the contract.
3.10 Workmanship.- The components and assemblies shall be
fabricated and finished in a thorough, workmanlike manner.
They shall be free of burrs, sharp edges, unblended radii, dirt,
grease, rust, corrosion products and other foreign matter. The
cleaning method used shall not be injurious to any part nor shall
the parts be contaminated by the cleaning agent. Surface coat-
ings shall be continuous except for a few slight scratches not
exposing base material. All required markings shall be neat
and sharply defined.
4.
QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS
4.1 Responsibility for Inspection and Standard Quality
Assurance Provisions. - Unless otherwise specified herein or in
the contract, the provisions of MIL-A-48078 shall apply and are
hereby made a part of this detail specification.
4.2 Classification of Inspections.- The following types of
inspection shall be conducted on this item:
a.  First Article Inspection
b.  Quality Conformance Inspection
