4.4.3 Testing.- Testing and examination of the samples for
First Article and Quality Conformance are completely described
in Table I - First Article Testing and the tables starting with
paragraph 4.4.2.1 and paragraph 4.5.
4.4.4 Inspection Equipment.- The inspection equipment re-
quired to perform the examinations and tests prescribed herein
is described in the 'Paragraph Reference/Inspection Method'
column in the tables starting with paragraph 4.4.2.1. The con-
tractor shall submit for approval inspection equipment designs
in accordance with the terms of the contract. See Section 6 of
MIL-A-48078 and 6.3 herein.
4.5 Test Methods and Procedures
4.5.1 Electrical Resistance of Warhead Assembly.- This test
shall be performed using equipment in accordance with 4.4.4.
Known rejects shall be removed from the lot.
The continuity of the circuit shall be checked between
the connector on the forward umbilical of the warhead assembly
and the connector on the aft umbilical on the warhead assembly
for the individual conductor and shield of the warhead assem-
bly. The electrical resistance, for individual conductors of
this cable assembly, shall not exceed three (3.00) ohms.
4.5.2 Insulation Resistance of The Warhead Assembly.- The
test shall be conducted using equipment in accordance with
4.4.4. Any assembly exhibiting less than one (1) megohm between
the conductor and shield and between the conductor and case and
between shield and case shall be considered a defective. The
insulation circuit shall be checked between the conductor and
shield and the conductor and case and between the shield and
case. The insulation resistance shall be 1.0 megohm, minimum.
Known rejects shall be removed from the lot.
4.5.3 Tracer Ballast Weight (Dwg. 9271942).- The test shall
be conducted on a simple balance using equipment in accordance
with 4.4.4. Any tracer ballast outside of tolerance shall be
considered a defective.
4.5.4 Leak Test.- The test shall be conducted using equip-
ment in accordance with 4.4.4, Any warhead exhibiting leakage
in excess of the requirement shall be considered a defect. Two
or more defects shall be cause for lot rejection. The sample
warheads shall be subjected to a leak test using a fluid that
is not considered potentially damaging (Helium or air). Other
fluids may be utilized if approved by the procuring activity.
Each warhead, less fuze with a base plug properly installed,
shall have a leakage rate determined. The leakage rate for
any individual warhead shall not exceed 0.0001 cc/sec.
