MIL-W-85057 (AS)
3.4 Performance.  Unless otherwise specified, values set forth to
establish the requirements of satisfactory performance apply to performance
under standard conditions of 3.3.8, service conditions of 3.3.9, and Input
power conditions of 3.3.11.  When reduced performance under extreme conditions
is acceptable, tolerances or values setting forth acceptable variations from
the performance under standard conditions are specified.
.
3.4.1 Primary Performance  Characteristics.  The WDC shall provide
primary performance characteristics for the following major functions;
Memory.
(1)
Instruction repertoire.
(2)
Input/Output (I/O).
(3)
(4)
Throughput.
External Interrupts.
(5)
Programmability.
(6)
3.4.1.1 Memory.  The WDC main memory shall be random access nonvolatile
ferrite magnetic core storage.
3.4.1.1.1 Word Length.  Word length in memory shall be 16 bits plus
one parity bit.  The capability to operate on two words as a double word
shall also be provided.  An arithmetic data word shall be 15 bits plus a
sign bit and the parity bit.  An arithmetic data double word shall be 31
bits plus a sign bit plus 2 parity bits; one parity bit for each 16-bit word.
3.4.1.1.2 Parity Generation and Check.  Odd parity shall be generated
and stored for all data transferred to memory.  Parity shall be checked for
all data transferred from memory.
3.4.1.1.3 Memory Cross Temperature Read-Write Capability.  The memory
shall provide a cross temperature read-write capability for reading information
at maximum temperature which has been written at minimum temperature and
reading information at minimum temperature which has been written at maximum
temperature.  The maximum and minimum temperatures shall be determined by the
temperature-altitude profile as specified in 3.3.9.2. This capability shall
be independent of the status or past history of the memory.
3.4.1.1.4 Protection.  The main memory shall be protected against any
loss of contents due to power shutdown/activation cycles, power failure,
or voltage transients as specified in 3.3.11.
