3.12.6 Overload safety devices.  Replaceable shear collars or the equiva-
lent shall be provided in the drive lines or component throughout the entire
mixing plant in all locations where overload may cause damage.

3.13 Engines. The engins, including all systems,  components, accessories,
and auxiliaries shall conform to MIL-E-11276,  except as otherwise specified
herein. The number of engines furnished per plant shall be at the discretion
of the supplier, except not more than four may be provided.
3.13.1 Power and spe ed rating. The power and speed rating of the engines
shall be such that operation of the plant under any of the operational require-
-
marts and conditions specified herein, will not require horsepower in excess of
the continuous horsepower rating of the engines for the applicable governed
speed, as established by the Qualified Products List, QPL-11276.
3.13.2 Fuel tank.  Each engine shall be furnished with a fuel tank conform-
ing to MIL-T-46786 , type II, class 2. The "fuel tank shall have a total
minimum capacity sufficient for not less than 10 hours operation in any
operating condition specified herein.  Fuel capacity shall be based on 100
percent of the fuel consumption rate obtained during conduct of tests in
test method series 2000 of MIL-STD-1400, at the applicable horsepower and
governed speed.
3.13.3 Oil filters.  The engine oil filters shall be of the full flow type
in accordance with MIL-E-11276.
3.13.4 charging generators. The battery charging generators shall be 18
ampere capacity in accordance with MIL-E-11276.
3.13.5 storage batteries. Each engine shall be provided with storage
batteries and a battery box in accordancee with MIL-E-11276.

3.13.6 Air cleaner.  The air cleaners shall be of the dry type, conforming-
to MIL-A-52363, class II, and a rain cap conforming to MS51389 shall be pro-
vided. The air cleaners shall be provided with a restriction indicator con-
forming to MS53063-2 if lOcated remotely or MS53603-3 if mounted on the air
cleaner.
3.13.7  Engine housing.  Engine housings in accordance with MIL_E-11276,
shall be furnished.  Engine housing side panels shall have not less than two
handles or handholds to facilitate opening, removal, and replacement of panels.
