4.4.1 Salt spray. -The test panels and/or parts shall be
tested as specifiedin Standard FED-STD-151, Method 811, (5 percent
salt spray test).
This shall be conducted for 420 hours.
4.4.2 Hydrostatic test of cartridge case.- The sample cartridge
case, less vent holes, shall be placed in a fixture as shown on the
Equipment List.  The protrusion inside of the case shall not be
supported.  The fixture shall be placed In a press and a load
applied until the required pressure is reached.  The ram shall be
applied at a rate not exceeding 0.25 inch per minute.  This test is
a destructive test.  Parts so tested shall not be returned to the
lot. This test does not apply if the alternative constriction
is applied.
4.4.3 Total vent hole area (alternate method).- The cartridge
case shall be inspected for total vent hold area using the equipment
specified on the Equipment List.  This test is a non-destructive test
Parts so tested may be returned to the lot.
4.4.4 Hardness.- The test shall be conducted in accordance with
Method 243 of Federal Standard No. 151.  This is a non-destructive
test.  Parts so tested may be returned to the lot.
5.1 Preservation and Packaging.-
5.1.1  Level C -Minimum Military Package.- The case cartridges
shall be packed for shipment in accordance with Dwg. 9223934.
5.2
Packing.-
5.2.1 Level C - Minimum Military Package.- The case cartridge
packed for shipment as specified in 5.1.1 shall be packed in accordance
with Dwg. 9223935.
5.3 Marking.-Marking of the cartons shall be in accordance with
Dwg. 9223934.
5.4  Shipping.-When shipments of more than one lot are made on a
carload, each lot must be kept separated and the dimension between
lots clearly indicated to prevent mixing in transit.
