3.9  Workmanship. The cartridges shall be assembled utilizing good workman-
ship practices common to the ordnance industry. Particular care shall be taken
that all components are clean, free from grease, dirt, corrosion, chips and foreign
material. Components with obvious defects or handling damage that could affect
performance of the cartridge or test weapon shall not be assembled.
3.9.1 Special working conditons. Facilities used in the manufacture, testing,
and inspection of cartridges shall meet the minimum standards for working con-
ditions of MIL-STD-1695.
3.10 Ammunition data cards. Ammunition data cards (DD Form 1650) shall
be completed in accordance with MIL-STD-1167 for each lot of cartridges (see
6.2.2). An ammunition data card shall be placed on top of the contents of each
ammunition box.
4.
QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS
4.1  Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract
or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspec-
tion requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the con-
tract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities
suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein,
unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to
perform any of the inspections set forth in this specification where such inspec-
tions are deemed necessary to assure that supplies and services conform to pre-
scribed requirements.
4.1.1 Special working environment. To meet the requirements of 3.9.1, the
contractor shall provide adequate facilities for the fabrication, assembly, and
testing of supplies to be delivered in accordance with this specification.
4.2  Classification of inspections. Inspection requirements specified herein
are classified as follows:
(a)
First article inspections (see 4.4).
(b)
Quality conformance inspections (see 4.5).
(1)
Individual inspections.
(2)
Sampling inspections.
