3.4 Components and assemblies. Components, subassemblies, and
assemblies shall be fabricated into a complete dispenser in
accordance with drawing (dwg.) 9289847.  All parts requiring
identification shall be marked in accordance with MIL-STD-130, when
not specified on drawings.  Where no specific construction
requirements are specified herein the manufacturer's best commercial
practice shall apply.  Construction shall be free from any
characteristic or defect which would prevent the item from
performing as specified herein.
3.4.1 Procedures.
3.4.1.1 Weldinq.  Welding of aluminum alloys, readily weldable
for structures, shall be in accordance with MIL-W-45205. Metal-arc
welding of structional steels and the procedures required for
documentation prior to production welding, brazing, and soldering
shall be equal to or better than the Government approved workmanship
samples provided by the contractor or manufacturer..  The welded
workmanship specimen prepared for highly stressed joint shall be
sectioned (cut) to determine the depth of weld penetration.
3.4.1.2 capability of welder equipment and welder operators.
The contractor shall be responsible for determining the capability
of the welder equipment and welder operators. The production
welder operator shall perform the welding as prescribed in the
contractor's manufacturer's welding procedure and meet the
requirements established by the approved workmanship samples. The
contractor shall have an accepted welding procedure and accepted
workmanship samples in accordance with MIL-STD-1261 for each type of
weld before any production welding can be accomplished.
3.4.1.3 Seals.  When fording or operating in mud, sand, or
snow, seals shall be capable of resisting the entrance of foreign
matter into the bearings.  All bearing seals shall restrict the
leaking of lubricants from bearings.
3.4.2 Elements and assembly.
3.4.2.1 Mechanical and structural.
3.4.2.1.1 Drive assembly, maqazine.  The drive assembly shall
operate smoothly without biding or audible chattering, grinding,
squealing or other unusual noises.  It shall be as specified with
proper adjustment and lubrications.
3.4.2.1.2 Mine guides, launcher and maqazines. The mine
channels shall be free of any obstruction, distoration,  dimensional
errors or excessive surface friction which would interfere with
smooth and uniform mine feed.
3.4.2.1.3 Launcher wheel.  The wheel shall be free of damage,
securely fastened and correctly aligned and balanced.
3.4.2.1.4 Launcher tire.  The tire shall be of the type
specified and inflated to the required pressure.
