4.6.2.6  Dryer, fuel line heating jacket.  Supply the dryer fuel line
heating jacket with a hot-oil-heating medium at a temperature not greater
than 450 F. Discharge the fuel oil.  Record the temperature of the
fuel at entrance and at discharge for a period of not less than 2 hours.
Failure to raise the fuel oil temperature not less than 25 F. when
passing 300 gph fuel oil through the heating jacket shall constitute
failure of this test.
4.6.2.7 Fuel oil preheater and preheater controller. Supply fuel
oil conforming to VV-F0815, grade F.S. No.5, to the preheater at a
temperature between 95 F. and 105 F. at the rate of 300 gph for a period
of not less than 2 hours.  The preheater and preheater controller should
maintain a discharge fuel oil temperature of 200 F. when hot oil at
a temperature of not greater than 450 F. is used as a heating medium.
Failure of the preheater and preheater controller to maintain the specified
fuel oil discharge temperature shall constitute failure of this test.
4.6.2.8 Dryer burner.  The dryer burner test shall be conducted
while the burner is installed in the dryer drum and is operating under
normal plant operations*  Operate the burner for not less than 8 hours.
This test shall be conducted both with number 2 grade fuel oil without
preheat and number 5 grade oil preheated to 200 F. Failure of the
burner to operate with each fuel or the development of uneven flame
configuration or hot spots within the dryer drum shall constitute
failure of this test.
4.6.2.9 Compatability.  Assemble and operate for not less than 1 hour
the units and sections in each of the following three arrangements:
Multiple aggregate mix with hot-aggregate elevator and gradation-control
unit; single aggregate mix with hot-aggregate elevator; single aggregate
mix with belt conveyor.  These tests may be conducted either loaded
or unloaded provided that opetating unloaded will cause no damage to
any unit or to the plant.  The piping equipment and wood blocking required
to assemble the plant in the above specified three arrangements shall
be checked for conformance to the erection drawings furnished by the
supplier. Failure of a unit or component to assemble and operate without
modification shall constitute failure of this test.
4.6.2.10 Plant capacity. Operate the mixing plant with gradation"
control unit for not less than 1 hour of continous operation using
either limestone or a gravel with an initial moisture content of not
less than 5 percent as specified in table 1. Repeat the test using
aggregate with a minimum initial moisture content of not less than
