periscopes plus three each of all items covered by Supplementary
Quality Assurance Provisions (SQAP). The responsibility (Government
or Contractor) for first article testing shall be as specified in
the contract.
4.3.2 Inspections to be performed.
4.3.2.1 Periscopes. -First article periscopes shall be tested as
specified herein for all the requirements of this specification,
except 3,6.2.
4.3.2.2 SQAP items. -The items covered by SQAP shall be tested
as specified thereon, for all characteristics delineated on the SOAP.
4.3.3 Rejection. -If any periscope or SQAP item fails to comply
with any of the applicable requirements, the first article sample
shall be rejected.  The Government reserves the right to terminate
its inspection upon any failure of an assembly, component or
subassembly in the sample to comply with any of the stated
requirements.
4.4 Quality Conformance Inspection.
4.4.1 Inspection lot formation. -Unless otherwise specified by
the contracting officer, inspection lot size, lot formation and
presentation of lots shall be in accordance with "Submission of
Product" provisions of MIL-STD-105.
4.4.2 Examination. -The examinations listed herein for Class-
ification of Defects shall be performed on inspection lots as
defined in 4.4.1 of this specification.
4.4.2.1 Components and subassemblies. -All components and sub-
assemblies shall be inspected in accordance with the inspection pro-
visions contained in the Supplementary Quality Assurance Provisions
(SQAP) listed in the Technical Data Package {TDP). In the absence
of SQAP's the applicable Quality Assurance Provisions of MIL-F-13926
shall apply.
4.4.2.2 Periscopes. -Subsequent to first article approval,
examination and tests related to Section 3 herein shall be performed
on a single defect (individual characteristic) basis in accordance
with MIL-STD-105, Inspection Level II, and the sampling plans
specified in Tables I, II, III, IV and V herein.  Examinations and
