(Continued)
3.1.14.4
have a frequency not greater than 100 cps and an rms value equal
to 3 times the value of the maximum peak operating voltage be-
tween any two windings or between any winding and neighboring
metal parts or ground.  When the maximum peak operating voltage
is greater than 700 volts, the rms value of the test voltage
shall be 1,050 volts greater than 1.5 times the maximum peak
operating voltage.
Variable Inductors:
3.1.14.5
When a roller or slider is used in contact with the conductor
of variable inductors, suitable provision shall be made to limit
the travel of the roller or slider to prevent its leaving the
conductor.
Insulators, Insulating, and Dielectric Materials:
3.1.15
3.1.15.1
General:
When ceramic parts are used for electrical insulation, all sul-
faces shall be glazed, or if glazing is impracticable, the
surfaces shall be sealed and moistureproofed.  Ceramic parts
shall not be treated with wax.
3.1.15.2
Terminal Strips and Boards:
Terminal strips and boards shall be fabricated from a satis-
factory low-moisture-absorption, fungus-resistant material.
3.1.15.3
Impregnating and Potting Compounds:
A compound shall not, either in the state of its original appli-
cation or as the result of aging, have any injurious effect upon
the insulation which it is designed to protect, and shall net
cause corrosion or deterioration of any adjacent parts. The
compound shall not crack or flow in the temperature range of
-65C and +105C, unless contained in such manner that the com-
pound will not flow from the container.
