3.2.6 Tiedown attachments. When specified (see 6.2), the semitrailer shall be provided with
integral attachments conforming to MIL-STD-209 to permit tiedown of the semitrailer to the
floor or deck of the transportation medium. The tiedown attachments shall withstand total loads
of 8 G forward, 8 G rearward, 2-1/4 G upward, and 1-1/2 G sideward where G equals curb
weight of the semitrailer (see 3.1.1). Each attachment shall be rounded or beveled to prevent
cutting of the tiedown material. Tiedown attachments may also be used as lifting attachments
when such attachments meet the requirements specified in 3.2.5.
3.3 Performance. The dump semitrailer shall perform as specified herein when (1) equipped
with all attachments, equipment, and accessories, (2) loaded to rated payload, not less than that
specified in table I and the applicable specification sheet, uniformly distributed over the dump
body load area, (3) completely serviced and adjust as specified in 3.12 and 3.13, and (4) towed
over the roads and terrain as specified by a truck-tractor matched to the semitrailer GVWR and
equal to he truck-tractors specified in 3.1.2.
3.3.1 Operational compatibility. The dump semtrailer shall operate with the following
construction equipment:
(a)
Concrete Pavers.
(b)
Asphalt Paver.
(c)
Chip Spreaders.
(d)
Rock Crushers.
(e)
Conveyors.
(f)
Storage Bins and Hoppers, having a minimum underneath clearance of 144-inches
above level ground.
(g)
Asphalt Pug Mills.
(h)
Scoop Loaders, 2-1/2 through 5 cubic yard size having bucket loading height of not
less than 102-inches above level ground to lift and dump payload over-the-sides of
the dump body, without side boards.
(i)
Power Shovel, Clamshell, Dragline and Back Hoe up to 2 cubic yard size.
3.3.2 Payload handling. The dump semitrailer shall comply with the interrelated
requirements as follows:
(a)
Perform dumping cycles involving the transporting of payload materials in the
function of loading, hauling, dumping, and returning empty.
(b)
Dump in a fixed location, such as stockpiling.
(c)
Dump in a controlled, uniform, spreading lift while traveling forward.
(d)
Load, negotiate, and lump on off-road terrain, longitudinal grades, side slopes, and
uneven ground normally encounted at earthmoving construction job sites.
(e)
Except for the refuse specials, other semitrailers load, transport, and dump payloads
of sand and gravel aggregates, 3-inch minus crushed rock, hot paving mixes, earth,
