Data obtained shall be corrected to show sea level performance on
a 59F day, Any performance deterioration during this test shall
be noted in the test report.
4.5.17 Fungus. The starter/APU shall be subjected to a fungus
test in accordance with MIL-STD-810 Method 508 Procedure I. The
starter/APU shall be subjected to two start cycles and one hour
of APU operation before and after the test. Data obtained shall
be corrected to show sea level performance on a 59F day. NOTE:
This test may be waived if the starter does not contain fungus
nutrients and a statement to this effect is included in the
verification test report. A list of typical materials which will
support and are damaged by fungi is given in MIL-STD-810 Method
508.
4.5.18 Fuel Contamination. The starter/APU shall be subjected
to 240 start cycles and/or 100 hours APU operation with
contaminated fuel in accordance with 3.6.21.4. Fuel system
filter(s), if applicable, shall have sufficient capacity to
operate without restricting the required fuel flow for 60 start
cycles and/or 10 hours APU operation.
4.5.19 Flight and Ground Loading. Limit and utlimate load tests
are required to demonstrate the strength requirements of the
equipment and its mounting. The equipment shall be mounted in a
manner simulating the aircraft installation. The mounting
hardware shall be the same as used in the aircraft and shock
mounts shall be in place if normally used.
4.5.19.1 Test Apparatus. A centrifuge capable of producing the
required load factors on the equipment shall be used for these
tests.
4.5.19.2 Test Procedure. The equipment shall be mounted on the
centrifuge so as to produce a force in the required direction.
