3.5.3 Water tank. A water tank of not less than 60 gallon capacity shall be installed on the
side of the truck frame. The tank shall be pressurized from the air receiver and shall be
constructed to ASME standards for a pressure of 150 psi. A 1/4-inch air regulator, pressure
gage, safety valve, check valve, 2-inch filler cap and 3/4-inch garden hose threaded outlet shall
be provided.
3.5.4 Solvent tank. A solvent tank of not less than 5 gallons capacity shall be installed on
the side of the truck frame. The tank shall be pressurized from the air receiver and shall be
complete with all fittings required for cleaning out the material hoses.
3.5.5 Vibrating roller. An Essick Model V30W2 or equal vibrating roller, suitable for being
carried on the rear tailgate of the dump body, shall be furnished and stowed for shipment.
3.5.5.1 Performance. The vibrating frequency shall be not less than 4,500 vibrations per
minute with a peak amplitude of not less than 0.046 inch. Centrifugal force developed shall be
not less than 2,640 pounds. Maximum ground pressure on roll with vibration shall be not less
than 3,640 pounds with a total applied force of not less than 144 tons per second. Speed range
shall be 0 to 220 feet per minute.
3.5.5.2 Roll. The roll shall be not less than 22-1/2 inches in diameter by 30 inches wide.
3.5.5.3 Engine. When a diesel engine driven truck chassis is provided, the roller engine
shall be a Lister Model LTl or equal diesel with a rating of not less than 8.8 horsepower. When a
gasoline engine driven chassis is provided, the roller engine shall be a Wisconsin Rubbin Model
W1390 or equa1 with a rating of not less than 11 horsepower. On both, a muffler and air cleaner
shall be furnished. The engine shall be in an enclosed compartment with hinged doors. The
engine need not be radio interference suppressed.
*  3.5.5.4 Transmission. A hydrostatic transmission providing forward and reverse speeds as
specified in 3.5.5.1 shall be furnished.
3.5.5.5 Construction. A gravity sprinkler system with a 9-gallon capacity tank and full
width coco mat shall be furnished. Adjustable roll scrapers, front and rear, shall be provided.
Stabilizing rolls, front and rear, shall be provided. Independent controls for driving and vibrating
shall be provided on the handle of the roller. Brakes with controls on the operating handle shall
be furnished. A fuel tank of not less than 1-gallon capacity shall be furnished.
