MIL-T-81527B(AS)
3.4.3 Waveguide Extension (WE) MX-849l/AWG-10.
The WE shall be designed to mount on the AN/APG-59
3.4.3.1 Function.
Radar Set structure in place of the Receiving Wave guide Assembly. It shall
provide for mounting and support of the Receiving Waveguide Assembly in a
position approximately 10 inches below and 6 inches forward of its original
Provision shall also be made to mount and support a Bit Target
location.
Generator (BTG),
Switching, control, and monitoring functions shall be in-
corporated to provide capabilities for alignment of the Parametric Amplifiers,
using a. sweep generator; calibration of the BIT Target Generator; and calibra-
tion of the 17 -dB variable attenuator.
The se capabilitiess shall be provided by
incorporation of the following functions:
(a) The Radio Frequency Oscillator Transmitted Frequency shall be
provided to the Wave guide Shelf in any of the three operating modes (Pulse,
Pulse Doppler and Continous Wave).
(b) Switching the Main Receiver and Auxiliary Receive r Parametric
Amplifier inputs from the Radar Receiving Wave guide outputs of the AN/APG-59
Radar Set to the output of the X-Band Sweep Generator.
(c) Insertion of a 19 -dB fixed attenuator between the Sweep Generator
.
output and the Parametric Amplifier inputs.
(d). Insertion of a 17 -dB fixed attenuator on the input side of the Auxiliary
.
Receiver Parametric Amplifier input.
(e) Calibration of either BTG (Radar or Test) in the three signal modes
(Short, Long, and Pulse Doppler).
(f) Equalization of the BTG Reference Signal path with the BTG Calibration
path.
(g) Diverting the input signal from the BTG under test and applying the
Only one BTG shall receive heater power or BIT
signal to the radar BTG.
Doppler Controller (BDC) at any one time.
(h) Comparison of the BTG output signal with the BTG input signal.
The input signal shall be suitably attenuated for comparison purposes.
